Open today 06:30 - 22:00

Get strong, stay balanced.

Reformer to kettlebells, sunrise yoga to one-on-one strength work. A small-class studio in Fitzroy where your instructor knows your name by the second visit.

(02) Approach

Fewer people, better form.

Pilates rings, dumbbells and balls hanging on a timber wall
Equipment wall · main studio

Two physiotherapists opened Denge in 2017 after years of watching big gyms where nobody corrected anyone's form. Denge is Turkish for balance, and the idea hasn't changed: the instructor should see the whole room, and every member should have a goal and a plan to reach it.

  1. 01

    Technique first, then tempo

Everyone new spends their first two weeks in foundation classes. Load and speed come once the movement is solid.

  2. 02

    Eight reformers, eight people

Reformer classes cap at eight and everything else at twelve, so your instructor sees every rep.

  3. 03

    Retested every three months

We repeat posture, flexibility and strength tests, so you track progress in numbers rather than guesswork.

  4. 04

    Built around your week

Classes run from 06:30 to 22:00. Book online and cancel free of charge up to 12 hours before.

Came to movement through contemporary dance. She opens up tight hips and shoulders without forcing anything, and has plenty to say about what a desk job does to your body.

Progress you can measure.

I'd spent twelve years at a desk. The first month was just learning to breathe and drop my shoulders. By the end of month four I was deadlifting 60 kilos with no back pain.

After having my daughter I had to reconnect with my core from scratch. Ece updated my program every week and never once rushed me.

Without the 07:00 conditioning class I wouldn't train at all. It's 45 minutes, I'm showered and at my desk by eight, and Kai always remembers what I lifted the week before.
James S.Functional · member for 2 years
My flexibility was zero and I was embarrassed walking into my first class. Eight months on, I can get up off the floor without using my hands.
Liam D.Mobility · member for 8 months
Sunday yoga in the park is my favourite hour of the week. Afterwards a few of us grab coffee on Brunswick Street and nobody's in a hurry.
Priya A.Yoga · member for 3 years
After knee surgery I was nervous about going straight from rehab into a gym. With one-on-one sessions I was back running on the treadmill in four months.
