The pastry counter changes a little every day. When something sells out, it is gone, and whatever is left at closing is boxed up for the community kitchen on George Street.
Our story
A corner, a neighbourhood and a little patience.
The Corner Room opened in the spring of 2019 in an empty shop that used to sell umbrellas. Defne had just left twelve years in architecture with an espresso machine and her mother's recipe notebook from Istanbul.
Today there are forty seats, a small courtyard garden and an oven that wakes up at five. One thing has not changed: nobody is asked to leave. One cup can last you three hours.
A good café should feel like the neighbourhood's living room. Good light, a comfortable chair, a warm cup.

From cup to plate
Our beans come weekly from a small roaster in Bermondsey. The cakes, the bread and the jams are all made in our own kitchen.
The room
A corner full of light
Glass on two sides: morning sun lands on the window counter, afternoon sun on the courtyard. The long shared table suits groups, the corner armchairs suit anyone with a book.
