I'm a photographer based in Istanbul. I shoot weddings, portraits, fashion and travel: people as they are, in whatever light I find them.
Foreword
The best moment of a day is rarely on the schedule. A hand held when nobody is looking, a veil the wind won't leave alone. I've spent eleven years waiting for moments like that.

Stories
Story 01
Hannah and Deniz married at a vineyard house on a small island in the North Aegean, and we took their portraits on the shore as the sun went down. The north wind wouldn't leave the veil alone for a second, so rather than chase it, we let it into the frame.
Story 02
Ten days on the road with a small trekking company on the Black Sea coast. This frame comes from the five minutes when the mist lifted off the plateau. The group was at breakfast, and I'd set the tripod up outside my tent.
Story 03
A young designer's first collection, shot in the dunes north of Istanbul at the harshest hour of the midday sun. We didn't hide from the shadows. We put the red against the sky and let the colour do the talking.
About
I found photography at university, in a darkroom that smelled of fixer. I still bring a roll of film to every wedding.
In 2015 I photographed a friend's wedding in Kuzguncuk, on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus, and then someone else asked. These days I take around thirty weddings a year, and I keep it that way on purpose so every couple gets my full attention. Many of them fly in to marry in Istanbul or Cappadocia, and I'm glad to help with the local side of things. Out of season I shoot portraits and fashion, and in winter I travel.

Process
For a wedding we usually work together for about three months, most of it over email and video calls. Portrait and fashion shoots take a few weeks.
Week 1
A coffee in Istanbul or a video call from wherever you are. I listen to how you picture the day, who matters most and where it's happening.
3 weeks before
We build the timeline together: the hours when the light is best, the family photo list, a plan for rain.
The day
Out of the way but never far. I set the scene more than I direct poses, and you do the rest.
2-5 weeks
I choose every frame myself and grade the colour by hand. Skin retouching stays light; looking like yourself comes first.
Delivery
A sneak peek within 48 hours, then the online gallery. If you chose an album, you approve the layout before it goes to print.
Kind words
We hardly noticed Ece at our wedding. Then we opened the gallery and lived the whole day again. The photo of Deniz's grandmother laughing while she wipes away a tear now hangs in our flat in London.

If your question isn't here, just send an email. I usually reply the same day, Istanbul time.
With a 30% retainer and a short contract in English. I hold the date for you until the retainer arrives, for up to seven days. Bank transfer in euros or pounds is fine.
Four to six weeks for weddings, ten working days for portrait and fashion shoots. Within 48 hours of the shoot I send a sneak peek of 15 to 20 images.
I care more about the story than the number. A full-day wedding usually comes to 600-800 images, every one of them chosen and colour-graded.
Gladly, and it's one of my favourite places to work. Travel and accommodation are billed at cost. For weddings abroad, it helps to start talking about twelve months ahead.
No. Choosing and grading the images is half of the photograph, so what I deliver is the finished work.
Not myself, but I can recommend two video teams I've worked with happily for years. We know how to stay out of each other's shots.
