01The gym

9,700 square feet, zero frills.

In 2015 we gutted an old print warehouse off Brighton Blvd, opened up the ceiling and laid rubber over the concrete. No mirror wall, loud music, bars always where they belong. Every station has a number, so when a coach says "go to 4" you'll find it on day one.

    Rack line

16 squat racks, each with J-hooks, safety arms and its own plate tree. No waiting in line.

  2. 02

    Lifting platforms

Four wooden platforms, competition bars and bumper plates. Dropping the bar is allowed. That's what they're for.

  3. 03

    Metcon and sled lane

Rowers, air bikes, ski ergs, wall ball targets and a 25 yard turf lane.

  4. 04

    Mobility room

A separate, quiet room: foam rollers, bands, a hang bar. Warm up and cool down here.

02Coaches

You're never alone under the bar.

At least one coach in every class, two once a class goes over 16. Adam writes the programming, and everyone teaches the lifts the same way.

  • Deadlift100 → 230 lb
  • First strict pull-upMonth 7
My first week I squatted the empty bar and felt embarrassed. Nobody even looked, everyone was busy with their own sets. This year I pulled almost twice my bodyweight off the floor.

I showed up to lose weight and dropped 19 pounds. The real win was the 6:30 AM crew. If I skip a day, they text me.

I work twelve hour shifts, so fixed class times never worked. I ran Jada's program during open gym and joined her technique class twice a month.

05Leaderboard

The whiteboard remembers.

We retest the benchmark workouts every three months. Give your score to a coach and it goes on the board. Race yourself, though seeing someone else's name above yours doesn't hurt either.

    061RM

    Estimate your max.

Enter the weight you lifted and how many reps you got. You'll see your estimated one rep max and working percentages. Past ten reps the estimate drifts; sets of 3 to 6 give the most reliable number.

    09FAQ

    Go ahead, ask.

I've never lifted before. Can I keep up with a class?

New members start in the Foundations group for their first two weeks. You'll learn the squat, deadlift, press and basic gymnastics with an empty bar and light weights. When your coach says you're ready, you move into regular classes. For most people that takes about six weeks.

I've heard CrossFit gets people hurt. Is that true?

Lifting heavy with bad form while exhausted gets people hurt in any sport. Our classes are capped at 16, and your coach sets the load for your level. If you have an injury, tell us in your first class and we'll swap the movements.

What happens in the free trial class?

A 15 minute intro with a coach, then the beginner version of that day's workout. Bring training shoes, a towel and water. It's free, and we don't ask for a card.

Can I put my membership on hold?

Yes, for up to 30 days a year (45 days on Unlimited + Coach). Travel, finals or an injury, it doesn't matter. Just let the front desk know a day ahead.

How old do I need to be?

Group classes are open to anyone 16 and up; 16 and 17 year olds need a parent's signature. Our oldest member is 67 and comes in three days a week.

Is there parking and a place to shower?

There's a free member lot behind the building and bike racks inside. Both locker rooms have showers, day lockers and hair dryers.
